About the Team:

 

The Curriculum Team is responsible for providing support and guidance to Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) schools on curriculum, learning programs and pathways from early childhood through to Year 12.

 

The Role:

 

We are seeking a professional educator to provide leadership and build capacity of teachers and leaders in Catholic schools in the Broome Diocese, in the area of Literacy and the teaching of English as an Additional Dialect (EALD).

 

This is a full time 5-year maximum term position commencing as soon as possible and concluding 31 December 2025.

 

Applications are encouraged from existing CEWA school employees wishing to explore the option of a period of leave from their present position. A minimum two-year contract period would be considered.

 

Key responsibilities for this role include: 

 

  • Leading and supporting school and system initiatives aligned with the Vision for Learning aimed at ensuring high standards in Literacy.
  • Working as a positive and supportive member of the Broome Regional Office in providing a coordinated and contextually appropriate response to school support.
  • Building the capacity of educators to support English language and literacy development among Aboriginal students for whom English is an additional language or dialect. 
  • Supporting effective development and delivery of EALD planning and resources.
  • Providing professional learning that strengthens and promotes EALD teaching and learning.
  • Supporting schools in relation to EALD curriculum, assessment and pedagogies.
  • Supporting school leadership teams and teachers in building capacity in schools to embed effective literacy strategies in schools.

 

Your Background:

 

  • Teaching qualifications and recent school-based experience with a history of exemplary teaching within literacy development among Aboriginal students for whom English is an additional language or dialect.
  • Excellent knowledge of current issues, initiatives and research in EALD.
  • Excellent practical and theoretical experience with data analysis.
  • Ability to respond to the diverse needs of Kimberley school communities.
  • Highly developed organisational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
