The Role

 

The role of Catechist Service Consultant belongs to the Catechist service team in the Religious Education directorate. We have 5 office campuses across the state and this role will be based at our West Leederville office.

 

This is a full-time, ongoing position commencing as soon as possible.

 

The Catechist Service Consultant role is designed to support the religious education, faith formation and leadership development of Catechists, and assist with the implementation of the Parish Religious Education Program and Archdiocesan Sacrament Policy for school-aged children.

 

 

The primary accountabilities of this role include:

 

  • Design and deliver courses in Initial and Ongoing Formation for Catechists, in Theology, Scripture, Spirituality and Religious Education
  • Support the Parish Religious Education Program by inservicing the Catechist teaching program ‘Gathered in my Name’ and providing consultation and support to parishes.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Archdiocesan Sacrament Policy for school-aged children by delivering inservices on sacraments and facilitating parent-child workshops.

Selection Criteria

 

A.        ESSENTIAL:

 

  1. Commitment to the Catholic faith and participation in the Catholic faith community.
  2. Extensive teaching experience that includes a capacity to communicate the teaching/learning process for adults.
  3. Capacity and experience in adult faith facilitation.
  4. Significant tertiary studies in the areas of Theology, Scripture, Spirituality and Religious Education.
  5. Well-developed oral communication/presentation skills that can engage adult participants of diverse backgrounds in an interactive way.
  6. Well-developed written communication skills.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a variety of settings.
  8. Commitment to the objectives and ethos of Catholic education.

 

 

B.        HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

 

  1. Experience in leadership formation.
  2. Experience in facilitation of diverse groups.
