The Role
The role of Coordinator, Students with Disability belongs to the Students with Disability team in the Teaching and Learning directorate. We have 5 office campuses across the state and this role will be based at our West Leederville office.
This role is designed to provide leadership and shape services delivered to Catholic schools in relation to students with disability. To coordinate and oversee the timely, effective, and high-quality support offered to schools, enhancing their capacity to meet the diverse needs of students with disability.
This is a full-time ongoing position (1.0FTE) commencing ASAP
The primary accountabilities include:
- Support school and system initiatives aligned with CECWA’s Strategic Initiatives and Quality Catholic Education.
- Support the Teaching and Learning Directorate strategic focus areas, through the Quality Catholic Education Framework, including the Vision for Learning and Contemporary Pedagogies.
- Collaborate closely with the Team Leader of the Students with Disability team to lead, strengthen and advance the team’s work.
- Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Directorate’s Extended Leadership Team to support a coordinated approach to teaching and learning, particularly with regards to working with students with disability.
- Coordinate the Students with Disability Consultants ensuring a safe, collaborative, cohesive and effective team environment.
- Coordinate the operational management and ongoing development of the Students with Disability Team of Consultants to ensure effective service delivery across all schools.
- Provide advice to Catholic schools, leadership teams on issues related to educational practices and provision for students with disability.
- Provide ongoing specialist support to school staff on issues related to the education of students with disability.
- Assist in developing and implementing effective policies, systems, services and processes related to improving outcomes for students with disability.
- Analyse current and emerging issues, trends and services to assist in long-term strategic planning.
- Assist in the preparation of system-wide responses to requests for information relating to students with disability in CEWA schools from the National Catholic Education Commission and other national and state bodies.
- Collaborate with Team Leaders, Coordinators and Consultants in the Teaching and Learning Directorate to support a coordinated approach to teaching and learning that enhances outcomes for students with disability.
- Collaborate with the School Improvement, Religious Education, Psychology, and Safety and Wellbeing teams to proactively address the needs of schools supporting students with disability.
- Take responsibility for a designated student caseload in schools K–12 in the Perth Diocese, maintaining direct school engagement.
- Provide advice to Catholic schools and leadership teams on educational practices and provision for students with disability, while ensuring compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Support Catholic schools and leadership teams in meeting legislative, funding, reporting and other accountability requirements (including NCCD processes).
- Other duties as directed by the Director of Teaching and Learning and Team Leader, Students with Disability.

ESSENTIAL:

- Specific qualifications and experience in teaching students with disability.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Ability to show initiative and be proactive.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current drivers, impacts and legislation of disability.
- Capacity to support school staff to assess the current learning level of students with disability, adapt the teaching curriculum and report on student progress.
- Highly developed skills in digital technologies.
- Highly developed facilitation and presentation skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills that can be employed to support school leadership teams on their school improvement journey.
- Capacity to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with parents, personnel in schools and other learning organisations.
- High level organisational skills, well developed oral and written communication skills.
