We are seeking a Cyber Security Officer to join our Digital Technology team. This exciting opportunity will play a critical role in the day-to-day delivery of cyber security services across CEWA, helping protect our people, systems and information assets. Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, you will manage operational security activities, support incident response, and contribute to strengthening CEWA’s cyber security posture across modern technologies including cloud services and AI-enabled solutions.

 

This is a full-time ongoing opportunity based at our West Leederville Office.

About the Role

As the Cyber Security Officer, you will be responsible for delivering frontline cyber security services and ensuring the consistent application of security controls, processes and incident response activities across CEWA. You will work closely with internal technology teams, service providers and school-based IT staff to identify, manage and resolve security risks and incidents.

 

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and resolve Level 1 and Level 2 cyber security incidents and service requests, including security-related access requests, endpoint security issues and account security concerns.
  • Support security incident response activities, performing initial triage, containment and escalation of incidents as required.
  • Monitor and analyse security alerts and events, helping maintain a proactive and responsive security environment. 
  • Conduct operational security activities, including user access reviews, vulnerability remediation tracking and maintenance of security documentation and audit artefacts.
  • Support emerging technology security initiatives, including AI-related security reviews, privacy controls and data protection measures.
  • Collaborate with Service Desk, Systems, Networks and school IT teams to resolve security issues and promote cyber-safe practices across the organisation.

 

About You

 

You are a motivated cyber security professional with experience in operational IT or cyber security environments. You are passionate about protecting systems and data, enjoy solving problems, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can make a tangible impact.

 

You will bring:

  • Experience in operational IT or cyber security roles and handling security incidents, alerts or sensitive access requests.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft security technologies including Microsoft Defender, Entra ID and Microsoft 365 security capabilities.
  • Understanding of privacy, data protection and information security principles. 
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating across technical teams to resolve complex security issues.
  • An automation mindset, with the ability to utilise scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python or Bash to improve operational efficiency. 
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement, identifying security gaps and recommending practical solutions.

 

Experience in security operations, identity and access management (IAM), education environments, cloud security, or relevant cyber security certifications will be highly regarded.
