We are currently seeking 2 full time Ongoing Graduate Product Engineers to join our team!

 

 

The Role

 

The role of Graduate Product Engineer belongs to the Digintal Technology  team in the Finance, Infrastructure and Digital Technology directorate. We have 5 office campuses across the state and this role will be based at our West Leederville Office.

As a Graduate Product Engineer you will analyse, design, build and test software and data products while learning industry practices through collaboration with Application Development team members and business units.

 

 

The primary accountabilities for this role include but are not limited to:

 

  • Adopt human-centered analysis and design capabilities to ensure digital solutions conform to effectively-captured business and non-functional requirements, embody effective User Experience workflows and have high-quality User Interfaces.
  •  Work collaboratively with existing Application Development team members, and through structured learning and training, to develop foundational technical skills in three core areas:
  • Software engineering in the building and maintaining of application products, primarily based on Microsoft Power Platform technologies and associated frameworks and front-end technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, etc.).
  • Data engineering in the building and maintaining of data products using Power BI, ETL frameworks, Azure SQL, Databricks and Azure Data Factory, using SQL, DAX, Python, Power BI and other scripting technologies.
  • Test-automation engineering by designing and writing automated tests for all product builds, while ensuring a focus on assuring high-quality and low-maintenance CI/CD deployment pipelines.
  • Learn to safely and increasingly utilise appropriate AI tools and processes, across all three foundational technical areas, during the SDLC and within product features.
  • Commit to maintaining an agreed level of shared system knowledge through documentation, including Data Definitions, Product & Process Descriptions, Support Procedures, etc.
  •  Ensure a high Cybersecurity focus in all stages of the SDLC, following DevSecOps principles.

Selection Criteria

 

ESSENTIAL:

1. Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.

2. Recently graduated in Computer Science, Data Engineering or similar discipline.

3. A deep understanding of the importance of a human-centered approach to product engineering.

4. Strong programming skills.

5. Demonstrated fundamental knowledge in relational database design, data normalisation, database management and data analytics, including the ability to query and analyze datasets using SQL.

6. A good understanding of artificial intelligence concepts and applications, with a demonstrated interest in AI technologies and their integration into engineering solutions.

7. Keen interest in being mentored and guided by experienced senior engineers in software, data & test automation in order to develop foundational skills in these core areas.

 

 

 HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

1. Reporting, data analysis or citizen development experience in an educational domain.

2. Hands-on experience since graduation in an engineering capacity in software, data or test-automation.

3. Interest and aptitude for AI and/or Machine Learning product development.

4. Experience working within a product delivery team in any capacity.

5. Experience with data integration and API connectivity.

6. Had attained some relevant industry certifications.
