We're seeking a Literacy Coordinator to join our Curriculum team within the Teaching and Learning Directorate.

 

Lead CEWA's Literacy Team in driving system-wide literacy improvement and building the capacity of schools to embed evidence-informed literacy practices. Working closely with school leaders, consultants, and professional learning networks, you will implement CEWA's Literacy Strategy, using data and insights to improve student literacy outcomes and advance our Vision for Learning.

 

This is a 1.0FTE ongoing position commencing 4 January 2027.

About the Role

 

Success in this role will be demonstrated through strengthened literacy outcomes across CEWA schools, effective implementation of system-wide literacy initiatives, and the development of capable, confident leaders and educators who use evidence-based practices and data-informed decision-making to improve student learning.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Play a key role in leading the current Teaching and Learning Directorate strategic focus areas, including the Vision for Learning and Literacy Frameworks.
  • Lead the Literacy Team in building capacity in schools to embed effective literacy strategies in schools.
  • Lead a collaborative process in the implementation of a Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA) literacy strategy that ensures all students have high levels of literacy proficiency, aligned with the CEWA’s Vision for Learning.
  • Support school leadership teams to establish and support professional learning networks within and across schools.
  • Support CEWA consultants in building capacity in the area of literacy

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate will bring extensive school-based experience, a strong understanding of evidence-based literacy practices, and the ability to translate research and data into meaningful improvements in teaching and learning. They will be a collaborative and proactive professional, skilled in building relationships, delivering high-quality professional learning, and working alongside school leaders, educators, and colleagues to drive system-wide literacy excellence.

 

Essential requirements:

 

  • Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties. .
  • Alignment with CEWA’s Vision for Learning, including a deep understanding of the Literacy Position Statement and Literacy Frameworks, and the ability to embed these into practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of effective pedagogical practices in Literacy, with the capacity to model and support evidence-based teaching strategies.
  • Recent and relevant school-based experience, showcasing a strong track record of leading and improving Literacy teaching and learning.
  • Expertise in current Literacy issues, initiatives, and research, with the ability to translate theory into impactful classroom practice.
  • Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying data to inform Literacy instruction and school improvement.
