The Executive Director of Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA) invites applications for the Principalship role at Nagle Catholic College based in Geraldton commencing 1 January 2026. 

 

School profile

 

Nagle Catholic College is a co-educational Catholic secondary school catering for students in Years 7 to 12. Located in the City of Greater Geraldton, the College has over 1,200 students enrolled in 2025 and continues to grow as a leading educational institution in the region.

 

The College is an amalgamation of a Presentation Sisters' school, 'Stella Maris College' and a Christian Brothers' school, 'St Patrick's College' which occurred in 1994. The College is named after Nano Nagle; the Foundress of the Presentation Order and it maintains links with both Orders today. Nagle Catholic College offers a wholistic education catering for the development of students' spiritual, religious, intellectual, physical, social and emotional needs.

 

The College works in partnership with Geraldton Residential College to provide boarding places for students attending from the Pilbara, through the Gascoyne, Murchison, Geraldton agricultural districts, remote pastoral leases and coastal tourist and fishing villages.

 

Nagle Catholic College provides a holistic education that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of each student. The College offers specialist programs in Australian Rules Football and Music, alongside an academic extension program with a strong focus on STEM.

 

The College is proud of its strong academic performance in public examinations and NAPLAN testing. A well-established literacy and numeracy support structure ensures all students are supported in their learning. The College also provides a robust Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathway for students pursuing alternative post-school options.

  • Demonstrated capacity to strengthen the Catholic identity of the school by embedding Gospel values and Catholic education principles into all aspects of school operations and decision-making, while actively participating in the sacramental life of the Church and fostering a culture where faith is authentically lived and celebrated within the school community.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading faith-based initiatives that support spiritual development and religious education, fostering a strong sense of belonging and ensuring all members of the school community are supported to grow and thrive.

 

Education

  • Proven experience in leading educational institutions with a focus on improving student outcomes across diverse pathways, including ATAR, trades, and direct university entry.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and support the professional learning of staff, foster a culture of quality teaching, and actively pursue ongoing personal and professional development.

 

Community

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with parents, First Nations communities, local organisations, and the wider community, including actively involving the Church in fostering strong school–home partnerships and promoting a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
  • Proven capacity to communicate respectfully and effectively with students, staff, families, First Nations peoples, and broader stakeholders, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

 

Stewardship

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and safe school culture for students and staff, making fair, transparent, and accountable decisions that are Christ-centred and child-focused.
  • Knowledge of managing school budgets, resources, and facilities to ensure financial sustainability, with a strong commitment to ethical practices and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency.

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Practising Catholic and experienced educator committed to Catholic Education.
  • Knowledge in the management of school boarding is highly desirable.
  • Accredited for Leadership of a Catholic School Community or equivalent.
  • A collaborative and future-focused leader who understands and supports the strategic priorities of the broader Catholic Education system. 
  • A relevant Master’s degree (or working towards completion) with the ability to apply advanced leadership and management principles to both the day-to-day and long-term leadership of a school is highly desirable.
  • Current Teachers Registration for Western Australia (TRBWA).
  • Current WA Working with Children Check (WA WWCC).
