School Profile

St Mary’s Catholic School, Boyup Brook, is a co-educational Catholic primary school catering for 66 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Located in the rural community of Boyup Brook in the Southwest region of Western Australia, the school was established in 1957 and has a long-standing reputation as a vibrant and family-centred learning community grounded in Gospel values.

Guided by its motto, “Growing Through Christ,” St Mary’s is committed to the education of the whole child through the integration of faith, life and learning. The school’s core values of Courtesy, Kindness, Respect and Pride are embedded throughout the school community and reflected in the relationships between students, staff and families. Staff work in partnership with a highly supportive parent community to create a caring, inclusive and well-resourced environment where individual student needs are recognised and supported.

St Mary’s offers a diverse and engaging curriculum with strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, supported by specialist intervention and extension programs across year levels. The school’s small enrolment enables staff to build strong relationships with students and provide personalised learning opportunities that encourage confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.

Specialist learning areas include The Arts, Technology, AUSLAN, Sport and Science. Students participate in Visual Arts and Drama programs and student artwork is regularly showcased at the local Dinninup Show. Digital and Design Technologies provide students with hands-on opportunities in coding, design thinking and digital literacy. Science learning focuses on inquiry, experimentation and STEM-based problem solving across Biological, Chemical, Physical and Earth & Space sciences.

Sport is an important part of school life, with students participating in athletics, swimming, soccer, football, netball and hockey, as well as interschool carnivals and the school’s unique upper-primary triathlon event. Student wellbeing is strongly supported through a school culture that prioritises compassion, encouragement and belonging.

The school also offers the “Learn & Grow” early learning program for children from 6 months of age to Pre-Kindy enrolment age and supporting early engagement with the school community through play-based learning experiences.
