The Role

 

The role of Regional Officer Broome belongs to the Broome Diocese team in the School Improvement and Wellbeing directorate. We have 5 office campuses across the state and this role will be based at our Broome office.

 

This is a full-time 5 year position commencing as soon as practicable.

 

The Regional Officer Broome position is a critical link between the CEWA Executive Team, the Bishop of Broome and Catholic schools in the Broome Diocese. A significant part of the role is capacity building at a school and systemic level, and the promotion of school improvement cultures of reflection, review and renewal. 

 

The Regional Officer is responsible for providing leadership and support to Broome Diocesan principals and their school communities, which in turn enables these schools to meet fully the policies and expectations of the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) in achieving the goals of the Bishops' Mandate for Catholic Education in Western Australia through the delivery of Quality Catholic Education (QCE) and CECWA’s Strategic Initiatives.

  • A competitive salary: Level M on the CEWA salary scale ($202,719 to $227,298 per annum) plus superannuation paid at the rate of 2.5% above the legislated Superannuation Guarantee.
  • A $10,000 full time per annum (pro rata) Regional Administration Allowance is paid in addition to salary.

Selection Criteria

 

The catholicity of CEWA schools, particularly those in regional areas, depends largely on an authentic relationship between the Bishops, the Regional Officers and Principals. The Regional Officer role provides a critical link between the Executive Director Catholic Education and Catholic schools in the Diocese. Personal relationships marked by mutual trust, close cooperation, and continuing dialogue are required for a genuine spirit of communion.

 

In the context of this position, the occupant must be able to demonstrate extensively the following qualities and capabilities:

 

  1. A practising Catholic with extensive and successful Catholic school principal experience.
  2. Possess Accreditation for Leadership.
  3. Actively demonstrate, promote and enact an understanding, commitment and advocacy in leading QCE across the four Pillars and eleven Elements.
  4. Provide quality Catholic leadership that promotes the evangelising mission of the Church, and which fosters cultures of faith formation, empowerment, inquiry, innovation and continuous improvement.
  5. Has knowledge and understanding that acknowledges, respects and advocates for First Nations Peoples.
  6. Demonstrate decision making and collaborative practices that are Christ-centred, transparent, evidence based and place the child as the focus.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding, and model effective collaboration, that values the unique and diverse needs of regional schools and their communities.
  8. The ability and willingness to analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to determine best practices in QCE review and improvement.
  9. Inspired by the principles of Catholic Education, is enthusiastic about developing knowledge of both primary and secondary curriculum, pedagogy, and school/college structures in support of CEWA’s Vision for Learning and Religious Education delivery.
  10. Is committed to promoting partnerships and engagement with parishes, parent groups, school networks and other church and community organisations within the Broome Diocese.

  14. High-level presentation and communication skills.
  15. Ability to initiate and lead innovative practice and service delivery, working collaboratively with school leadership and CEWA office teams in the pursuit of QCE.

 

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT SPECIFIC TO THE POSITION 

 

  1. This is a 5-year fixed term position commencing as soon as practicable based in Broome.
  2. Conditions of Employment for Broome Regional staff apply. 
  3. Hold a current Teachers Registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia.
  4. Hold a current Working with Children Check for Western Australia.
  5. Travel within state and occasionally interstate will be required.
