School Improvement Advisor

We are seeking applications for the role of School Improvement Advisor within the School Improvement and Wellbeing Directorate. This is a full-time fixed term position commencing 28 April 2025 and concluding 31 December 2029.

The School Improvement Advisor position is a critical link between the CEWA Executive Team and Catholic schools in WA. A significant part of the role is capacity building at a school and systemic level, and the promotion of school improvement cultures of reflection, review and renewal.

The School Improvement Advisor is responsible for providing leadership and support to principals and their school communities. This in turn enables CEWA schools to meet fully the policies and expectations of the Catholic Education Commission of WA (CECWA) in achieving the goals of the Bishops’ Mandate for Catholic Education in WA through the delivery of Quality Catholic Education (QCE) and CECWA’s Strategic Initiatives.

Selection Criteria

  • A practising Catholic with extensive and successful Catholic school principalship experience.
  • Possesses Accreditation for Leadership.
  • Actively demonstrates, promotes and enacts an understanding, commitment and advocacy in leading QCE across the four Pillars and the 11 Elements.
  • Provide quality Catholic leadership that promotes the evangelising mission of the Church, and which fosters cultures of faith formation, empowerment, inquiry, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates decision making and collaborative practices that are Christ-centred, transparent, evidence based and place the child as the focus.
  • The ability and willingness to analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to determine best practices in QCE review and improvement.
  • Inspired by the principles of Catholic Education, is enthusiastic about developing knowledge of school improvement processes and collaborating across directorates on curriculum, pedagogy, and school/college structures to support CEWA’s Vision for Learning and Religious Education delivery.
  • Is committed to promoting partnerships and engagement with parishes, parent groups, school networks and other church and community organisations.
  • Effectively support and embed innovative, systemic practices that promote continuous improvement within and across schools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and empower others.
  • High-level presentation and communication skills.
  • Initiate and lead innovative practice and service delivery, working collaboratively with school leadership and CEWA office teams in the pursuit of a QCE.

  3. A detailed and updated Curriculum Vitae which includes the names and contact details of four referees, one of whom should be your parish priest. (Please note that you are not required to include certified copies of degrees, academic transcripts, or accreditation certificates as the successful candidates will be asked to do so upon appointment.)
