The Role

 

The role of School Support Consultant belongs to the School Support team in the Teaching and Learning directorate. We have 5 office campuses across the state and this role will be based at our West Leederville office.

 

This is a full-time ongoing position commencing as soon as possible.

 

The School Support Consultant will provide leadership and build the capacity of school leaders in Catholic Education Western Australia in the area of Learning and Teaching.

 

Primary accountabilities of the role include:

 

  • Support school and system initiatives aligned with CECWA’s Strategic Initiatives and Quality Catholic Education.
  • Support the Teaching and Learning Directorate strategic focus areas.
  • Work with Religious Education and School Improvement teams to establish a culture of learning innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Support schools to engage with the Vision for Learning and Quality Catholic Learning and Teaching Pedagogies.
  • Work with School Improvement Advisors/Regional Officers to be proactive to the schools’ needs and support principals and their leadership teams to:
    • use academic data to monitor and review the school’s Catholic School Improvement Plan;
    • develop Curriculum Planning processes which meet Government regulations;
    • establish a culture of learning, inquiry, exploration and innovation in schools to support school improvement processes and the development of cultures of continuous improvement;
    • lead professional learning within their school community; and
    • embed Quality Catholic Learning and Teaching practices across the school.

Selection Criteria

 

ESSENTIAL:

  • Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.
  • Recent primary leadership experience with evidence of exemplary classroom teaching.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Quality Catholic Education, CEWAs Vision for Learning and relevant teaching and learning frameworks, position statements and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to taking personal responsibility for professional learning, growth and development.
  • Excellent understanding of academic data and how to apply this to improve teaching and learning.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of current issues and research in pedagogical practice.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of current issues and research in school improvement processes and pedagogical practice.
  • Highly developed facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills that can be employed to support school leadership teams on their school improvement journey and to work as part of a wider School Support Team.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed skills in digital technologies.
  • Ability to show initiative and be proactive.

 

  1. A current National Police History Check as issued by the Department of Education Western Australia.
  1. Current TRBWA and Working with Children Check.
  2. A willingness to travel to and work in regional locations.

 

HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

  • Knowledge of current initiatives, curriculum documents and programs used in Catholic Schools in Western Australia.
  • Knowledge of the school improvement process of Catholic schools in Western Australia.
