Expressions of Interest are invited for the position of Short-Term Principal at St Mary’s School, Northampton, commencing 1 January 2027 and concluding 31 December 2027, to cover a period of leave.

About the School

St Mary’s School, Northampton is a co-educational Catholic primary school located approximately 475 kilometres north of Perth in the Midwest region of Western Australia. Catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6, the school provides a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where each child is known, valued, and supported to achieve their full potential.

Established in 1874, St Mary’s has a rich history of Catholic education and strong ties to the Northampton community. Selection Criteria

To be considered for this unique leadership opportunity, candidates must be practising Catholics and highly experienced educators committed to the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education.

• A minimum four-year tertiary qualification (progress towards a master’s degree or higher is advantageous).
• Accreditation to Lead.
• Current TRBWA and Working with Children requirements.
• Relational leadership with the ability to build strong partnerships with students, staff, families, parish, and the wider community.
• Community-minded leadership, with a willingness to become an active and visible member of the Northampton community.
• Strong instructional leadership with a focus on educational excellence, student achievement, and wellbeing.
• Knowledge and experience in multi-age education and contemporary teaching and learning practices.
• Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners, including students with disability (SWD).
• Capacity to lead and develop staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and positive school culture.
• Ability to grow and strengthen the school community through positive engagement and relationship building.
• Commitment to cultural responsiveness and reconciliation, including meaningful engagement with the First Nations community.
• Experience in a rural, regional, or small-school setting is highly desirable.
