We are inviting expressions of interest for the short-term principalship at Christ the King Catholic School, Djarindjin-Lombadina, commencing 1 January 2026 - 9 October 2026 (Terms 1 to 3), for a leave replacement.

Christ the King Catholic School, located in the Djarindjin-Lombadina First Nations Community on the Dampier Peninsula, is home to the Bardi coastal people. The school blends Catholic faith with deep spirituality connected to the land and First Nations traditions.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the Principal, the community seeks a principal with the following attributes:

 

  • A reflective listener and adaptive leader, open to new learning and responsive to the unique needs of a remote setting.
  • Willingness to engage with and utilise the support provided by Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA), including professional learning, service structures, and system requirements.
  • Capacity to lead with respect for human dignity, building strong relationships within the school and broader community, and fostering a welcoming Catholic environment.
  • Understanding of and connection with Bardi culture, kinship and customs.
  • A Principal who is present in classrooms and actively involved in the day-to-day life of the school.
  • Experience as a teaching principal in a remote Indigenous school, with demonstrated ability to manage resources, audits, finance, personnel, contractors, and daily operations.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, FASD, PTSD, ILPs, child protection, and case management procedures.
  • Commitment to embedding Bardi cultural context across all subject areas, including celebrations of the sacred on country.

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

To be considered for this unique leadership opportunity, candidates must be practising Catholics and highly experienced educators committed to the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education.

 

Requirements:

  • A minimum four-year tertiary qualification (progress towards a master’s degree or higher is advantageous).
  • Accreditation to Lead.
  • Current TRBWA and Working with Children requirements.
