About the School
Clontarf Aboriginal College is a Catholic boarding school for First Nations students from Years 7–12. It represents a partnership between First Nations peoples and the Catholic Church. In the tradition of Edmund Rice, Clontarf’s mission is to be a place of learning and understanding that respects First Nations culture and spirituality and supports students in reaching their dreams. The College motto is “Learning for Life.”
A comprehensive literacy program is provided to meet the specific needs of students, many of whom speak one or more Aboriginal languages. Skills for lifelong learning are developed through the academic curriculum, and the College’s strong focus on vocational education provides students with post-school career opportunities in a wide range of fields. The College implements strategies that create a culturally safe teaching and learning environment, one that is welcoming to guardians and students and promotes high expectations for all.
Clontarf offers boarding facilities in a coeducational setting and is committed to supporting students in achieving their aspirations. As a Curriculum and Reengagement School, student wellbeing and readiness to learn are prioritised through the College’s pastoral care, and trauma-informed practice underpins all processes.
